Zettai Heiwa Daisakusen

Zettai Heiwa Daisakusen (Absolute Peace Strategy) is a short manga by Ogura Akane which I also class as a hidden gem. This was actually recommended to me, and I absolutely loved it.

The story follows Prince Johanne of the Northern Kingdom and Princess Euda of the Southern Kingdom, from enemy countries who have declared their love for one another and are now engaged. But the truth is, they don't get along at all and only married so that the war between the Northern and Southern Kingdoms could end so there would be some long-needed peace.

The plot provides plenty room for moments of comedy, romance and action as the couple try to act like a loving couple in front of the citizens of both kingdoms and their families. This "love" dissolves as soon as they are alone, but things soon start to change whilst they are in each other's company. Also, those who oppose the truce attempt to prove that the Prince and Princess don't love each other, or try to kill one or the other.

The fact that the manga only has 19 (main) chapters somewhat limits the possibility for other things to be included in the story. But if that happened, the manga would lose its charm in my opinion, and you're not shouting at your screen/book whilst reading because the characters aren't doing the obvious or whatever. Sometimes short is good, and Zettai Heiwa Daisakusen proves this. If you want a short and sweet but interesting manga, this is the one for you.
