Akame ga Kill!

Akame ga Kill! (or Akame ga Kiru!) follows Tatsumi, a young swordsman who left his poverty
stricken village to find work in the Imperial Capital, in the hope of saving his home. Arriving at the Capital, Tatsumi meets Akame, an assassin and a member of the rebel group Night Raid, which uses special weapons known as Teigu. Together, Tatsumi and Night Raid work to overthrow the corrupt empire.

The anime starts off with action and continues to progress with a well balanced story so you won't feel bored while watching it. It also has its moments of humour, seriousness, sadness and action, which are all perfectly balanced. Action scenes don't drag out, giving time for other things to happen in following episodes.

All the characters are great to watch, each with their own backstory, so you'll feel like you're getting to know them as you see them more, and with this comes great character development as the story progresses. To add further interest to the characters and story, each Teigu is unique, and as each Night Raid member has their own weapon, how they got their compatible weapon features in their backstory as well. Sadly, this focus on character personality and backstory does mean that there is a catch - (spoiler) you cannot get attached to the characters. That is all that will be said, and you will come to see why.

If you enjoy the anime, luckily for you the manga is still ongoing. But since there will (obviously) be some differences in some parts of the anime, you'd want to read from chapter 1.
